Principal Update Sept. 18

Good morning LPE families and Happy Friday! Wow…week 3 almost in the books already!  It has been an eventful beginning to the school year to say the least but I am proud of the hard work I am seeing from our students, the adventurous spirit and positive attitude that our staff has shown, and for the commitment and perseverance I have observed from our amazing community. As we continue to navigate Online Learning together, let’s keep in mind that we truly are a team….school, student, family…and it is the concept of TEAMWORK that will not only get us through our present circumstances but will support the growth of our students and help them experience SUCCESS. As partners, we share the responsibility for each students’ success and want you to know that we will continue to do everything we can to support your child. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning and Growth Mindset by:

  • Encouraging your child to take risks and tackle new challenges at school and at home.
  • Praising your child not for the ease with which he or she learns a concept but for the amount and effort put into learning.
  • Emphasizing perseverance and effort in all activities.  Learning any new skill is sometimes difficult and that is OKAY!

I am looking forward to continuing our strong partnership with you all as we continue our journey through 2020 and into 2021!  Have a wonderful weekend families!  See below for some updates.  : )

  • On March 13th, 2020 our schools closed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Our students were asked to take many of their belongings with them when they went home that day.  Many students left personal belongings and classwork in their classrooms though and we would like to return as many of these as possible.  On Wednesday 9/23, many student items will be out on the front lawn of our school (on Browning St.).  Items will be bagged/labeled with student name and will be organized by 2019-2020 teacher name. If you think your child left any belongings at school and would like to pick them up, please stop by the school at any time on 9/23 9am-4pm.  You may park in front of the school, exit your vehicle, locate your child's bag, and pick it up.  We will not have staff there to assist you. Please contact your child’s 2019-2020 teacher if you have questions (if necessary, our school directory is HERE). You may also email me by responding to this email.   Please wear a mask at all times and remain at least 6ft away from others.

  • My next Principal’s Coffee event will be on Friday October 6th at 9am.  The Zoom link was emailed out on 9/18.  If you need the link, please email Principal Morici at [email protected].  If you cannot make it to this event, I will be posting my presentation notes on our website.

  • Meal Pick Up Update: The USDA recently made a decision allowing our district to continue providing free meals for all students. Families may drive-thru or walk-up to any of the 82 meal pick-up locations throughout the district to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch for their children. Meals are available Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Currently, there is no cost or school validation needed.  We will continue to update families as we find out how long this waiver remains in place. Students do not need to be present to pick-up meals; however, a photo of the child will need to be shown by their parent or guardian.  For a list of meal pick up locations, click HERE.
