Friday Announcements

Happy Friday LPE families! See below for some weekly updates. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!  --MM

  1. Our JOGATHON is on Thursday 9/29! Thank you to all students and families who have been raising money for our school! On 9/29, ALL students will be running laps for 30 minutes to support our school! Parents and family members will be able to come to campus to cheer our runners on.  Parents/family members WILL NOT be permitted to run with our students unfortunately. That day, please enter through the Main Office gate and sign in (there will be a table set up as you enter campus).  The schedule is below:

9/29 Jogathon Schedule:

8:30-9:00 – UTK and Kinder

9:15-9:45 – 1st and 2nd Grade

10:00-10:30 – 3rd Grade

10:45-11:15 – 4th Grade

  1. Thanks to those who were able to attend LPE’s first Principal’s Coffee of the year this morning! These will be held monthly (our next meeting will be on FRIDAY 10/21 @ 8:30am in the LIBRARY). If you weren’t able to attend today, the link to my presentation can be found HERE. Included in this presentation is our Visitor Emergency Procedure document (located HERE).

  1. On 9/28, we will hold our very first Lockdown Drill. The focus of this drill will be on remaining safe in classrooms in the case of exterior dangers….this can include an intruder on/off campus, environmental issues on/off campus (i.e. gas leak, etc.), or a weather-related emergency (i.e. lighting storm).  We will not be focusing on or referring to “active shooters” or any similar terms and instead will prioritize staying safe in case of a “stranger” on campus or dangerous weather/environmental issues. Please take some time to discuss this with your child if you feel it is necessary.  Students will be told this is a drill. Teachers will also be preparing our students for this drill.  Our goal is to limit anxiety and focus on practicing staying safe. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Parking Issues in our neighborhood – our school has been receiving complaints from our neighbors about LPE families’ cars blocking driveways during AM drop off and PM pick up.  There has also been a complaint about LPE parents acting negatively towards our neighbors on Browning Street.  Families, our children are watching us. Please help us in being good neighbors by respecting other’s property and obeying traffic laws. I value being part of this wonderful community and I want our LPE family to work alongside our neighbors to keep the LP Love going strong. Please help us by parking carefully!  I have notified SDPD and School Police about this issue and they will be monitoring our parking (and issuing tickets).
