Good morning Loma Portal families!  It is a very exciting Friday here at LPE!  The first Trimester is complete and we are already two weeks into Trimester 2! Students are engaged in their learning and they are having a lot of fun while they are at it.  Now that we are into the Thanksgiving season, I wanted to show some GRATITUDE (the character trait of the month) by thanking you all for sharing your children with us.  It has been such a thrill getting to know them and seeing their progress as we make it through this school year.  Due to our current circumstances, this school year has not been easy, that is for sure, but seeing your children here every day, smiling, laughing, and learning, makes it all worthwhile. Having the support of our LPE families has been critical to our success and we definitely feel the LPE Love from you all!  I would also like to thank our amazing staff for working harder than they ever have to meet the needs of our learners.  The range of student abilities this year has been larger than ever but our talented staff has worked hard to meet each child at their “just right” level which is no easy feat.  Keep up the great work staff. I hope you ALL (staff and families) enjoy the upcoming holiday.  Please take this time to get out and enjoy your friends and family members! Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 11/29! See below for some updates….

  1. We are continuing to compile a list of our families in need in preparation for our upcoming Holiday Food Drive!  If you or someone you know is in need this holiday season, please let us know by completing this short survey HERE.
  2. Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share.  For the past several years, we have been lucky enough to have an OUTSTANDING music teacher, Mrs. Candy Szalay, who has been working with all of our grade levels.  Our music program, which is funded by our wonderful Foundation, is one of the many things that makes our school so special. Mrs. Szalay works with every class each week and puts on a spectacular Spring Music Festival every May. Due to an ongoing illness, Mrs. Szalay will not be returning to LPE this school year.  We will miss you Mrs. Szalay! Our school and Foundation will be working on a plan for reallocating this funding asap.
  3. Keep up to date with Principal Morici and our LPE Foundation on social media!
