Volunteer Information

Volunteering is a great way to support our school.

Please turn in your forms to our School Secretary, Tauni Cobb-Aikin, in the front office. A completed volunteer form needs to be turned in ANNUALLY. If you have any questions, Mrs. Cobb-Aikin can be reached at [email protected].

*ALL volunteers must abide by the SDUSD Volunteer Code of Conduct (HERE).

4 Categories of Volunteer Clearance:

  • Category A: One time volunteers do not need screening. Example: attending an assembly, coming to the Jogathon, or eating lunch with your child. This DOES NOT require a volunteer application.

  • Category B: For volunteers who will work with students while in the same room as the teacher. This requires a volunteer application and TB test (please see below for TB form). Category B volunteers are screened on the Megan's Law website.

  • Category C: For volunteers who will be alone with kids ON CAMPUS. Example: taking a small group of students to another room. This requires a volunteer application and a TB test (please see below for TB form). SDUSD School Police will complete a background check for these volunteers.

  • Category D: For volunteers who will be alone with students OFF Campus. For example: field trip drivers, field trip chaperones who will take a small group of students to the bathroom, field trip chaperones who will take a small group of students away from the teacher for any reason. This requires a volunteer application, a TB test (please see below for TB form), and fingerprinting done at the SDUSD District Office (4100 Normal St., San Diego, CA 92103). The fingerprinting service is completely free. Once you have been fingerprinted, you will NEVER have to be fingerprinted again for SDUSD volunteer purposes.
