Welcome Back!

Good morning LPE families and welcome back to school! I hope you all had an exciting Spring Break and that you and your families are ready for this last stretch of school before summertime (which will be here fast). Although we have about 9 weeks of school left, those weeks are going to be packed with activities as they usually are. It is going to be a fun few weeks! See below for some updates. Enjoy the beautiful weather everyone! --MM

  1. Campus Construction – Many of you have noticed the SDUSD trucks/vans parked around our campus and the mobile office parked on our blacktop near the Clove St. gate. This is due to several construction projects happening at our school. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused! Our Health Office and Staff mailroom are being redone, our campus security is being upgraded (including cameras and monitors), and a new doorway is being added through our office conference room to make our campus more ADA accessible. These projects should be completed very soon. We thank you for your patience!

  1. As of April 4th, all SDUSD campus aremask-optional. Although this is a very big change, our school day has remained unchanged and our staff and students haven't skipped a beat. Please let me know if we can do anythying to support your family through this transition. For your reference, you can find the April 4th COVID-Related Policy Changes HERE.

  1. UTK at LPE – Many of you have questions about SDUSD’s new UTK program offered at more than 100 schools, including Loma Portal. Click HERE for a UTK Resources document. This can also be found on our school website and will be updated regularly.

  1. I wanted to give a big shout out to our Dad’s Club, staff, and volunteers for giving up their Saturday morning last week to support our school! Our new student artwork tiles were installed near our Main Office and our Lending Library project was started up by Mrs. Hutchinson. Mrs. Polk and Mrs. Choukri were also hard at work in our garden. Special thanks to Jeremy Martin and Stan Krimerman for setting up this “Dolphin Day of Service.” Let’s do it again soon!

  1. Last but not least, our very first on campus event, the Variety Show Viewing Party, is happening this Friday 4/8 on our outdoor blacktop area! Gates willopen at 6:30pm and the show will begin at 7:00pm. Please bring your own blankets and beach chairs. Should be fun!
